Dan Childress' Obituary
Dan Newton Childress, 86, of Jackson, TN, passed away June 13, 2011. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Childress retired from the Rayloc Division of the Genuine Parts Company where he was Man of the Year in 1972. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Martha Helen Childress. He is survived by his son, Dan Childress (Eva), of Jackson, TN; daughter, Linda Futris (George), of Ridgeland, MS; granddaughter, Jennifer Griggs (Elton); and two great-grandsons, Trey and Beau Griggs. He also leaves two sisters, Patsy Miller and Sue Vinson. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
