Dale Huffman Cronk's Obituary
Dale Huffman Cronk, 96, of Memphis went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 15, 2012 after a brief illness. Dr. Cronk was born on July 27, 1916, in Iowa Falls, IA. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Charlotte (Huffman) Cronk, his brothers Cyril Cronk and Leslie Cronk, and his loving wife of sixty-five years, Wilma Lois Russell Cronk. Dr. Cronk is survived by his children Connie Cronk Rouse (Richard) of Clearwater, FL, Stan Cronk (Johnna) of Ruston, LA, and Jim Cronk (Michelle Dixon) of Cordova; his grandchildren Alisha Rouse Sackett (Chris) of Yukon, OK, Brant Rouse (Vanessa) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lydia Michelle Cronk and Margot Weslee Cronk of Cordova; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Dr. Cronk served in the Army during World War II, from 1942 until 1945, with the 24th Field Hospital in the Pacific Theatre. Dr. Cronk received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa. He spent most of his teaching career at Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana – Monroe), where he attained the rank of Professor of Pharmacy. He also served twice as Acting Dean. Dr. Cronk was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova, and a longtime member of Gideons International. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:30 AM on Monday, September 24, at Trinity Baptist Church, Cordova; the funeral will follow at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will take place at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Trinity Baptist Church of Cordova or Gideons International.
