Daisy Davis McRae's Obituary
Daisy Davis McRae, 91, passed away on October 4, 2018. She was born in DeKalb, MS on April 10, 1927 to Oscar Dee Davis and Minnie Key Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Debra McRae; her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Rebecca McRae; her granddaughter, Loren McRae Lancaster (Jake); two great-grandchildren, William and Davis of Jackson, TN. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Mitchell and Rachel Nester of Meridian, MS and Annette Sumner of Wetumpka, AL. Daisy graduated from DeKalb High School and moved to Memphis in 1952. She was the last of 33 original charter members who began Woodland Presbyterian Church in 1953. There she remained an active dedicated member all her life, becoming a Deacon of the church, participating in the Outreach Choir and numerous other church missions and activities. Daisy worked for LeBonheur Children’s Hospital as an administrator for 20 years. She is remembered as a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, tirelessly giving to others as well as her church. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, starting at 12:00 pm with funeral services at 1:30 pm at Woodland Presbyterian Church, 5217 Park Avenue. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. The McRae family wishes to acknowledge the staff at The Pointe at Kirby Gate for the kind, compassionate care given to Daisy at the end of her journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to her beloved Church, Woodland Presbyterian.
