Cynthia Webb DeShazo Wingfield's Obituary
Cynthia Ann Wingfield, age 61, passed away on Friday November 5th, 2021, in Germantown, TN in the presence of her loved ones and pastor.
Cindi was born on September 30, 1960 in Merced, California and spent her formative years growing up in Africa, Taiwan and Hong Kong before returning to the U.S. to start a family.
As a single mother of three young children, Cindi attended Tallahassee Community College and graduated with a degree in Nursing. She accepted a nursing position in Memphis, TN following her dream of helping others through healthcare. She served as an ICU nurse, in home health, and managed a surgical practice for over 20 years. Cindi was passionate about helping uninsured patients with breast cancer receive healthcare and was able to help countless women in Memphis get treatment by partnering with local and governmental grant programs.
In her free time, Cindi was an avid gardener and cook and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren around the table for meals and in the kitchen teaching them the art of cooking Asian inspired cuisine. Her time spent abroad heavily influenced her adult life and she shared her love of other cultures with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was to wander through her garden picking freshly ripened vegetables with her grandchildren in tow. She was also an artist who passed her love for all things creative to her children and grandchildren.
Cindi is survived by her husband, Troy Wade Wingfield; her children Aaron DeShazo and his wife Amanda, Adam DeShazo and his wife Jenny, Amanda Anderson and her husband John, Alexis Wingfield and five grandchildren; her sister, Mary Virginia Stewart and her husband Charlie and her father William B. Webb and his wife Montserrat. She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Francis Webb.
Services will be held in Memphis, TN at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Cynthia Webb DeShazo Wingfield Scholarship fund at Tallahassee Community College. The Cindi Fund is available for single mothers wishing to pursue a degree in Nursing and was generously started by her Uncle, Robert K. Webb and his wife Joanne Webb to honor the lifetime of selfless nursing service of their niece. Donations can be sent to:
