Cynthia Dunavant's Obituary
Cynthia Chrestman Dunavant, 66, passed away May 2, 2015. She was born August 24, 1948 in Helena, AR to Deane and Reuben Chrestman. She graduated from Central High School in Helena, AR and the University of Mississippi (Class of 1969). She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and an Ole Miss cheerleader. She was an exceptionally talented CPA with diverse experience in tax and financial accounting. She was a very successful financial accounting professional with both public and private companies over the past 20 years of her distinguished career. She developed world class accounting teams for each company along the way. She is survived by her children, Michael Andrew Dunavant (Julie Thompson Dunavant) and William David Dunavant, III, MD (Shannon Chelette Dunavant); grandchildren, Elizabeth Lawrence Dunavant, William Haygood Dunavant, Grace Anne Dunavant, and Lily Catherine Clay Dunavant; and siblings, Reuben Chrestman, MD of New Orleans, LA and Deane Gaines of Gulfport, MS. She loved her sons and grandchildren dearly. She lived life with the greatest compassion for others. She also had a passion for rescuing animals, both dogs and cats, that were in need of a home as well as gardening. She devoted most of her life to raising her two beloved sons to succeed not only in the professional world but more importantly in life. She taught her sons everything about life, including to love, to have compassion, to do the right thing, but most of all, to serve God. Services will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
