Cupel Rowan Andrews' Obituary
Cupel Rowan Andrews, 87, of Cordova, TN passed away July 12, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 20, 1927 in New Albany, MS. Her parents were Eugene Rowan and Troma Wise Rowan. She lost her husband of 60 years William Burris (Andy) Andrews in 2006. He was her soul mate, best friend, and the love of her life. She leaves her daughter, Sandra and her husband Douglas B. Haynes of McMinnville, TN, her son, Wayne and his wife Donna Murphy Andrews of Cordova, TN. She was known as BomBom to her four grandsons, Brandt Haynes of New York City, NY, Todd Haynes of Chattanooga, TN, Tyler Andrews of Collierville, TN and Brad Andrews of Cordova, TN. She leaves five great grandchildren, Layton, Rivers, and Crew Haynes and Kinley and Kasen Andrews. She also leaves two brothers, Winton Clark Rowan (wife, Betty) of Blue Springs, MS and Jack Wilson Rowan (wife, Linda) of New Albany, MS, two sisters, Margaret Pannell (husband, Roy) of Blue Springs, MS, Nancy Tompkins (husband Cecil) of Lakeland, TN and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Cupel loved life; she was devoted to her family, and was as unique as her name. Not one to be behind the times, she used text messaging and kept up with friends using Facebook on her iPad. She had been an avid water skier and amazed all by her skill on a slalom ski. She took great pride in landscaping around her house, most of which she propagated, and her home was filled with plants. She was skilled in many kinds of needlework, as well as furniture refinishing, and she and her husband enjoyed several years of square dancing. After retirement as a bookkeeper for Allis-Chalmers, she and her husband travelled the United States and Europe with other couples that they had met when all their children were young at Beverly Hills Baptist Church (now Cherokee Baptist Church). These friends were there for each other through the good times and bad of life. A fun-loving dedicated Christian Lady, Cupel Andrews will be missed by so many. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15 from 12:30 until service time at 2:30 at the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Cherokee Baptist church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
