Condolences to Cris' wife Hilda, his brother Rick, other family members, and his friends and colleagues. A traditional Jewish expression of condolence is, "May his memory be a blessing". In life, my cousin Cris was very much a blessing to my mother and me and my siblings, as he provided a home for his mom & our mom, and was a gracious host to each of us siblings intermittently, sometimes for months at a time, as our mom & his mom supported each other through long years of frailty and illness. And, in his passing, I am sorrowing for the loss of this good and gentle man, but I am also comforted by my memories of him from childhood on. The silver lining to our moms' illnesses was the opportunity to spend time with Cris in his home and get to know him better as an adult. A shared love of music and his restless intellectual curiosity made for many enjoyable conversations. When I last saw Cris, he was again supporting our family and sharing our grief at the passing of our mom, but there was also a note of joy in meeting his lovely wife Hilda. I am so grateful that Cris and Hilda found one another. Again, my condolences to Hilda, and my wish that she will soon recover from the exhaustion and sorrow of recent medical struggles, and be able to focus on the happier memories.
Love from Cris' Alford cousins,
Tricia, Richard, Susan Roach, and John
