Coy Marie Futhey's Obituary
Coy Marie Bradshaw Futhey (Mamaw), born June 7, 1921, in Oakville, TN died on April 3, 2011. Coy married Malcolm Brown Futhey (now deceased) in June 1940. They had four children Bette Ann Little (Randall), Gloria Crawford (Ronnie), Nancy Rose Bass (who went to be with the Lord at the age of 21), Malcolm Brown Futhey Jr, (April). She said her life began with her children. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews. Her life was devoted to many school, civic, and church activities, PTA officer, district director of the Girl Scouts, coached softball, president of Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Unions, and above all her church work was very important to her. She was a member of the Eastern Star, but by far her greatest gift was her powerful prayers. For many years she held a bible study and prayer meeting in her home. Many people trusted and depended on her prayers, they seem to go straight from her lips to God’s ears. She was beloved by all who knew her. Coy had a social side that showed her sense of fun, game player extraordinaire. She formed a Rook Club and everyone wanted to be her partner. She could outfish any fisherman and had a laugh that was contagious. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in the chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Coy Futhey contributed to this world in every way, but the thing everyone will remember was that she was a spiritual leader and the best Mamaw ever. Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901) -767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall “.
