Corrine Evans' Obituary
Corrine Anderson Evans, 96, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Monterey Palms Nursing Center in Palm Desert, California. Born in Sadler, Texas on July 22, 1920 to Verner Smith Anderson and Carrie Bell Hughes Anderson, she grew up in the Tupelo, Mississippi area and attended the public schools. She married Vance W. Evans and they made their home in Memphis, Tennessee for much of their adult life. Mrs. Evans was a longtime employee of the VA Hospital in Memphis where she was the PBX Operator. She was a member of the Still Waters Baptist Church.A service celebrating her life will be held at 12 Noon Friday , August 20, 2016 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors, 5281 Cliff Gookin Blvd., Tupelo, MS 38801 with her pastor, Bro. Don Amburn, officiating. Burial will follow in the Evans family plot at Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 PM-6PM Thursday at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 56689 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 and from 10 AM-service time on Friday at Holland-Tupelo Chapel.Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Evans Anderson (Sonny, deceased) and Lynn Evans Buxbaum (Bob, deceased) of Memphis, Tenn. 3 grandchildren, Robin Grant, Keri Gage and Evan Ticer. 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A sister, Frances Anderson Black of Tupelo. A sister in law, Bobbi Jean Evans of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vance, an infant son, John David and her brother, Wayne Anderson.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Still Waters Baptist Church, 2828 Reid Hooker Road, Eads, Tennessee 38028.
