Conrad H. Richards' Obituary
CONRAD H. RICHARDS, passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, AZ in the early morning hours of Friday, September 17, 2010, after a brief illness. He had recently moved to Arizona after living most of his life in Memphis or Germantown, TN. Conrad was born in Zachary, LA on March 28, 1940 to parents, John D Shishkin-Richards and Rena Mae Davis Richards, who are both deceased. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nancy Jean Richards; his children, Conrad H Richards, Jr., Virginia Carol Williams, and Andrew Stephen Richards; a grandson, Thomas Augustus Williams and siblings, Josephine Boyd, John B Richards and Norman Richards. His sister, Mary Helen Karpinski predeceased him. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Conrad was a man who shared anything he learned with those who came in contact with him. After graduating from Memphis State with his Bachelor’s degree and later his Master’s degree, he became an Associate Professor at the former State Technical Institute at Memphis, where he taught computer programming courses from 1970 until 1988. In 1988, he moved to Appleton, WI to teach at Fox Valley Technical College. Returning to Germantown, TN in 1989, he completed his career through various computer consulting assignments, retiring in 2000. He had a passion for reading, traveling, sports, fishing, golf, family and his pets. He was a very loving, devoted husband and father who took pride in the successes of his family, and his students. He will be sorely missed by those he has left behind. Conrad was a great man who had a wonderful spirit and once you met him, you never forgot him. Services will be held Wednesday, September 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
