Clyta Verne Agee McAtee Gentry's Obituary
Clyta was born on August 12, 1920 and went to heaven on September 9, 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn McAtee McVeigh; grandsons Robert and Ross (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Aurora Grace and Hugh Richard. Services will be at Covenant Baptist Church, 3170 S. Houston Levee Rd, Collierville on Monday September 12, with visitation at 9:30 am, funeral at 10:00 am, and interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Clyta was born in Hope, AR to Clyta and William Agee, Jr., then moved to Texarkana, AR where she graduated from Arkansas High in 1938 and graduated from Texas Women’s University with her Bachelor in Library Science in 1943. She married Rev. Delbert Chappell McAtee on November 18, 1945. She was a faithful preacher’s wife and school librarian. After Bro. Mac went to heaven in 1995 she moved to Kirby Pines Retirement Community in 1996. There she met and married William Roland Gentry, Jr., in 1999. Since he went to heaven in 2006 she has been in Kirby Pines Manor. She recently joined the Daughters of the American Revolution, Watauga Chapter. Memorials may be made to the McAtee-Agee Memorial Scholarship Fund at Ouachita Baptist University, Box 3754, Arkadelphia, AR 71998.
