Claudia Powers Phillipy's Obituary
Claudia Powers Phillipy, passed away peacefully on Monday morning February 1st. She was born 6/17/1943 in Batesville, MS.
Claudia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose family was the love of her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining, travel, and trips to see her children and grandchildren. She loved living in Memphis, playing tennis in her younger years, dancing, cheering for the Tennessee Vols and Ole Miss Rebels, and spending time with her countless dear friends. She was a long time member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Her favorite job was as a mother, but she was also an integral part of her husband’s very successful insurance and investment company.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edwin A. Phillipy, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Allyson Phillipy Ticer; her son, Blake Phillipy and his wife Jill, her son, Craig Phillipy and his wife Amy; grandchildren, Carter Phillipy, Camille Phillipy, and Maggie Claire Phillipy; her sister, Marilyn Johnson (Stan); and her brother Alvin Powers (Janet); and many special nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at Memorial Park on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2404 Kirby Road, Memphis, TN 38119.
