Claude Banister's Obituary
Claude E. Banister, 79, passed away on May 21st at the Solana Senior Living Facility. He was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church. Claude graduated from Trigg County High School in 1953. Upon graduation he attended Murray State University where he graduated in 1957. At Murray he was active in ROTC, Scabbard and Blade, and a member of SAE fraternity. He later attended the University of Louisville School of Law and graduated with honors in 1965. He was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association. He was also a member of the Honorable order of Kentucky Colonels. Claude served in the military from 1957-1958 and later was active in the Army Reserves. Claude was an employee of State Farm Insurance for 52 years, first serving in operations and then a successful agent for 29 years. While working for State Farm he obtained Charter Property Casualty Underwriter, Chartered Life Underwriter, and Certified Financial Planner. Claude was an avid sportsman often taking hunting trips to Utah, Texas, and his favorite trip to Africa. Claude is survived by his wife Sue Wilson Banister; son, John Banister, Sr., and daughter, Kim Badger (Brian). He leaves four grandchildren, John, Jr., Kayleigh, Jackson, and Shane and two great grandchildren, Ryatt and Violet. The Banister and Badger families would like to thank all the caregivers at Solana, The Hospice Advantage caregivers, Sherry and Anna, and family and friends for their love, care, and support through Claude’s long illness. May the peace of the Lord be with each of you. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24th at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 12 p.m. until the service begins with interment following.
