Clarice V. Cox's Obituary
Clarice Virginia Cox, 81, of Memphis TN passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Ave Maria Nursing Home. She was born January 12, 1933 in Memphis TN to Maxine and Clarence Cox. She attended Humes High School and Memphis State University. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, a business sorority.Clarice was a faithful Christian witness throughout her life. She attended Chelsea Avenue Presbyterian Church, First Methodist Church in Jackson TN, Lamar Heights Presbyterian Church, Pendleton Presbyterian Church, Christ United Presbyterian Church and Woodland Presbyterian Church in Memphis TN. She served as an Elder at three of these churches. She was also a Chancel Choir member.She began work in 1951 at Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company. She worked for A. Douglas Krell as an administrative assistant for seventeen years. She retired in 1988 from Eli Lilly & Co. as a financial analyst to care for her parents.Clarice is predeceased by her parents and she leaves three cousins, Sherri Amundson of Tallahassee, Florida, Virginia and Anita Myers of Cupertino, California and a special life-long friend, Sam Cavallo.Clarice was a beloved caregiver in all her churches. She requested that her friends and loved ones “in lieu of flowers, visit the elderly, homebound, the sick and the infirmed and give of their time doing the work of the Lord”.Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, 11am-12pm and the funeral service will follow at 12pm at Woodland Presbyterian Church, 5217 Park Avenue, Memphis TN. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave.
