Cindy Free's Obituary
Cynthia “Cindy” Free, age 58, passed away on September 12, 2019.Cindy was preceded in death by her loving Father, Hugh Free and is survived by her loving Mother and Brother, Lovely and Alan Free.She was educated at Lausanne school and graduated from Auburndale (St. Benedict at Auburndale) high school. Following this she attended University of Tennessee at Martin.From and young age Cindy was kind and caring and these traits continued throughout her life, displayed by her friendly interaction with family, friends, and neighbors.As a young teenager, Cindy was diagnosed with a serious illness but continued to maintain a positive outlook in the face of mounting health concerns.Cindy focused on many interests such as fishing with her brother who tried to instruct her but she let him know she could out-fish him any day!She also displayed talent at times in piano, violin, and needlepoint. She delighted in freely giving away many handmade crafts to others.Cindy especially enjoyed playing with family pet dogs, Fritz and Fritzi and was a serious UT fan, watching many games throughout her life.Because of her interest in music Cindy developed a strong appreciation for Elvis Presley’s rock and roll style, collecting numerous records and other memorabilia. In fact, he learned of her loyalty to his music and prior to her first neurosurgery at age 14, Elvis’s personal phone call to lend his support thrilled young Cindy.Cindy will be truly missed but her generous loving spirit will live on in the lives of those who were fortunate to have known her.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Elvis Presley Trauma Center at Regional One or charity of the donor’s choice.The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 21 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow immediately at 2:30 p.m. The entombment will follow the service. All services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN. 38119 (901)767-8930 .
