Christopher Joseph Hartz's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Christopher Joseph Hartz
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Joseph Hartz, who peacefully
left us at the age of 64 on April 23, 2025, in his home surrounded by love. Chris was born on
September 26,1960 in Memphis, TN to Paul and Martha Hartz. He was raised in Jackson, TN and
was a graduate of Jackson Central-Merry High School in 1978 and attended University of
Tennessee at Martin. Chris married his high school sweetheart Beth, and they raised their four
children in Memphis where he built a career in transportation and logistics.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Beth; his children Alyssa Hartz, Christina (Colin)
Lacey, Adam (Kara) Hartz and Anna Hartz; his grandchildren Elliott Lacey, Charlotte Lacey, Wyatt
Lacey and Trevor Hartz; his mother Martha Hartz; and his siblings Patty (Doug) Stufflebam, Paul
(Marilyn) Hartz, Carol (Mike) Nunnery, and Teri Triplett. He was preceded in death by his father
Arthur Paul Hartz and brother-in-law Jeff Triplett.
Chris lived his life with purpose, generosity, and a strength that uplifted and supported everyone
around him. He was a man who stood firm in his values. He was known for his unwavering
compassion and a strong will that helped him face life’s challenges with quiet determination.
Those closest to him knew him as someone who gave freely of his time and heart, always ready
with a warm smile and helping hand.
A man of many passions, he found peace in fishing and took great pride in his garden. Watching
sports was more than a pastime, it was a way to bond with family and friends, and a constant
tradition in his life. He had a talent for turning any meal into something special—his cooking was
always an act of love, whether it was a Sunday breakfast, backyard barbecue, or his secret
spaghetti sauce.
Chris was a steadfast and caring father who raised his four children with love, patience, and
guidance that shaped who they are today. As a grandfather known as Nonno, he lit up in the
presence of his four grandchildren, making memories and cracking jokes.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, his love, wisdom, and legacy will live on in the hearts
of all who knew him.
A visitation service will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Memorial Park
Funeral Home located at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
A funeral service to honor his life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in the
Chapel on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 1:30 pm. Burial to follow at Memorial Park.
Flowers can be sent to Memorial Park Funeral Home.
