Chris "Boo" Loveland's Obituary
Chris passed away peacefully in his home in downtown Memphis, Tennessee — the city he loved deeply and supported fiercely. Memphis wasn’t just where he lived; it was part of who he was. From championing local businesses and local bands to dancing the night away at Lafayette’s, Chris embraced his city with joy and loyalty.
To know Chris was to know what he loved: his momma above all else, basketball, Alabama football, the Green Bay Packers, the New York Yankees, and good music with great people. His friendships were lifelong and unbreakable — bonds only those closest to him could truly understand. They were strong, enduring, and filled with shared memories that will live on.
Chris was loving, kind, funny, and delightfully silly, but above all, he was deeply compassionate. He had a soft spot for the homeless community downtown and gave freely of what he had — often offering his own blankets, pillows, and shoes to those in need, never expecting anything in return. Helping others was simply part of who he was.
Chris leaves behind a legacy of generosity, loyalty, laughter, and love — a reminder to care for one another and to show up fully for the people and places that matter. Chris is survived by his mother, Ann Loveland; sisters Rebecca Loveland Smith and Lisa Pugh; nephews, Chase Smith(Camryn), Gage Smith, and Beckett Littleton; nieces, Melissa Pugh and Sara Pugh; and great-nephew, Langston Smith, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father George Loveland.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating a blanket in Chris’s name to Sheets for the Streets, continuing the compassion he showed so effortlessly.
