Chief Warrant Officer Erick Martin Morneault's Obituary
Chief Warrant Officer Erick Martin Morneault, 59, departed from this world unexpectedly on October 24th, 2023, while working for Air Methods emergency medical services. He lived his life with an unwavering devotion to family, faith, and country always putting others before himself. Erick was an exceptional man of adventure, laughter, and comfort for all he met.
Chief Warrant Officer Morneault had a lifelong passion for aviation and service to others. After his graduation from Madawaska Highschool in 1983 he joined the Army Air Corp in Fort Jackson, SC. From there his years of service in Army Aviation saw him qualified in both the UH-1 Huey and UH-60 Black Hawk airframes as an Instructor Pilot and Flight Instrument Examiner with over 3000 hours of mishap-free operations. His service to his country spanned the continent and the globe from Fort Gordon, Ga., to Graffenwoehr, Germany, including posts in Arizona, Alabama, New York, and California. Along the way his service took him to South Korea where he met the love of his life, Julia. Together they continued their adventure to New York and Kentucky this time with the addition of their daughter Michelle. From there they were assigned tours at Fort Polk, La., Aviano AFB, Italy, Fort Knox, Ky., a return visit to South Korea and Ft. Polk, La., completing over 26 years of honorable active-duty service to his nation at Fort Irwin, Ca.
When he completed his service to his country, he continued to put others first as an emergency medical services pilot in the Mid-South region performing countless lifesaving flights. He took pride in his missions, knowing that he was an airborne angel to so many people who otherwise would not have been able to receive emergency treatment without his steady hands and ability to swiftly reach even the most remote of locations. His Air Methods teammates will miss his dedication, attention to detail, and the warmth with which he treated those around him.
The focus of his life was his family, for which he provided the rock-solid foundation for all their journeys. He was the comfort and love of Julia, her best friend throughout all their adventures. He devoted his life to making her happy and feeling loved. The joy in his soul was his daughter Michelle. He showed her how to live a good life with love and laughter, making everyone smile with his cheesy dad jokes and playful antics. He would do anything for his beloved wife and daughter and was happiest when they were wrapped within his arms.
The life of service and dedication to family was guided by his strong Catholic faith, grown in the woods of Madawaska Me., where he can trace his ancestry to St. Therese de Lisieux, the Little Flower. His reliance on God to guide him gave him the strength to serve and a heart of love as big as he was tall. We know, today, he is walking with Jesus.
His enormously active life was enriched by his undying devotion to family, faith, and his country. His memory will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Julia; daughter, Michelle and Son-in-law, Colin; his father, Martin and sister, Louise of Maine; and brother, Paul of North Carolina. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Doris.
