Charlotte "Mi Mi" Israel's Obituary
Charlotte Anne Israel, 78, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025 at her home in Bartlett, surrounded by her loving family.
Born to Elbert and Lottie Pearl Janes on April 4, 1947, in her grandmother Mawmaw Massengill's home in Hickory Flat, Mississippi. She grew up in Shelby County and graduated from Germantown High School in 1965 and went on to attend Memphis State University, where she met the love of her life, Clyde Israel. The two were married on September 6, 1968, in the original Germantown Baptist Church.
After spending a short time in Jacksonville, Florida, the couple returned to Memphis, Tennessee, where Charlotte embraced the role of a coach's wife with unwavering devotion. She worked in retail at Sears in downtown Memphis before securing a position with General Electric. Following the birth of their firstborn son, Jason, Charlotte began a long and meaningful career with Nurnberger Radiation Protection Services. In 1978, they welcomed their daughter, Jennifer. Charlotte worked with NRPS for more than 20 years before purchasing the business in 1999.
Over the years, Charlotte's work life was rich and varied-she was a successful real estate agent, a dedicated retail employee, a business owner, a faithful volunteer at her children's school, and always, a steadfast supporter of her husband's coaching career. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, "Mimi," and "Great Mimi," whose love and presence shaped the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, "Coach" Clyde Israel; her parents, Elbert and Lottie Pearl Janes; her brothers, Gene (Sharon) and Randy Janes; her niece, Mandy Janes; and her brother-in-law, Michael Riley.
She is survived by her adoring children, Jason (Elizabeth) Israel of Hernando, MS, and Jennifer (Trey) Edge of Bartlett, TN; her cherished grandchildren, Keaton (Bridgett) Israel, Halei (Austin Kelly) Edge, Hayden Edge, Kaitlyn Edge, Hannah Edge, TJ Edge, Gavin Edge, Parker Israel, Katelyn Israel, and Hadlianne Edge; and her great-grandson,
Cooper Israel. She is also survived by her sisters, Sue Riley and Janet (Ali) Assadollahi, sister in law Sharon Janes along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved her dearly.
Charlotte lived a life full of love, devotion, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faithfulness, and family- one that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 on November 21, 2025 from 1-2 with services following at 2pm.
