Charlotte Woods Anthony's Obituary
On July 23, 2021, Charlotte Woods Anthony, while surrounded and held by the family she loved, went from their arms to those of the Lord. Charlotte was born April 1, 1935 to Troy and Georgia Woods. She was born and raised in Cleveland, MS. After high school she went to Delta State University, earning a degree in education. While at Delta State, she met and fell in love with Wayne Anthony. They married and were blessed by the birth of their daughter, Anne Marie Anthony Jordan in 1963. Wayne and Charlotte moved to Memphis where Charlotte worked as an elementary school teacher, and Wayne owned and operated a successful State Farm Agency. Wayne and Charlotte were married for more than forty years until his death in 2004.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband and her sisters Rachel Woods and Maxine Murrell. She is survived by her brother TC Woods, her beloved daughter Anne, her son-in-law Trey Jordan, and the joys of her life, grandchildren Jules and Lucius Jordan. Charlotte loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and attending the many activities in which they were engaged. She also enjoyed going to the theater with friends and traveling.
Honoring Charlotte’s wishes, her services will be attended by family alone. In lieu of flowers, those who would like to honor and celebrate her life are encouraged to make a gift to the Memphis Botanic Gardens.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.
John 3:25
