Charlie McCrory's Obituary
Charlie McCrory, 89, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on April 27th. He enjoyed a lifetime to envy in which he experienced success in all facets that life has to offer. As a young man he served his country as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corps prior to the end of World War II. After receiving orders to return home, Charlie joined his father in the family construction business. During that time they expanded from building custom homes to commercial buildings and churches. Upon the early death of his father, Charlie took over the family business. In 1962, he and Gary Albertine formed the Albertine- McCrory Realty Group, and we’re very successful for 30 years. His next business accomplishment came in 1993, when he and son-in-law, Chuck Schadt, partnered to start McCrory Schadt Company. Along with being a prominent businessman, he was also very involved in the community. Charlie was president of the National Homebuilders Association of Memphis and president of Chickasaw Country Club. He also was a member of the Regional Estate Council and Second Presbyterian Church. Charlie accomplished many things in his professional life , but personally the most important thing he did was for those around him, he taught values such as hard work, integrity, as well as faith in God and to believe in yourself because you can truly accomplish whatever you set your mind to do. Throughout the years he remained an avid and quite skillful golfer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Betty Jo Baker McCrory and three siblings. Charlie left behind his beloved wife Norma McCrory, daughters, Susan Schadt and Charlotte Amsden and son, Gary McCrory, three stepchildren, Judith Hoover, Greta Lindstrom, and John Hoover. Five siblings, six grandaughters, three step grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Services will be held April 30,2012 at Second Presbyterian Church.
