Charles Warner (Bubba) Ray's Obituary
Charles W. "Bubba" Ray, age 91, resident of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and husband of Joetta Byrum Ray, departed this life Saturday morning, June 21, 2025.
Charles was born November 27, 1933 at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, the son of Calvin Warner Ray and Virginia Ruth Overton Ray.
Bubba grew up in Memphis, attended A.B. Hill School, was an avid athlete for "The Scrappers" at South Side High School, graduating in 1954.
Shortly after graduation, Bubba was inducted into the army and served his country, mostly in Korea, for the next two years.
Upon returning home, he drove a delivery route for the Nabisco Company and later as a driver for Gordon Transports and Transcon trucking lines. He liked "Being under the wheel" and being a Teamster until he retired.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joetta Byrum Ray; his daughter, Carol Denise Behr (Tim); one son, Jack Warren Ray (Julie); three granddaughters, Robin Byrd (Michael), Candy Avery (Thomas), and Georgia Ray; two great granddaughters, Emma Byrd and Stella Avery.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Warner Ray, Jr. and Robert Lynn Ray.
