Charles Bernerd Quinn Jr.'s Obituary
Charles Bernerd Quinn, Jr. (Charlie), native of Memphis, Tennessee, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on June 9, 2025 at the age of 77.
Charlie was born on May 4, 1948. He was the oldest of five boys born to Charles Bernerd Quinn, Sr. and Edyth Lyne Quinn. Charlie grew up as a member of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was a 1966 graduate of Christian Brothers High School where he thrived academically and athletically. During those formative years, Charlie developed his character of integrity and loyalty, in addition to his passion for the game of golf. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity as well as a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business, he was stationed in Fort Knox before returning to his hometown where he earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Memphis. He had a long and successful career in finance and banking, where he was well respected by his colleagues and peers. Charlie supported many charitable organizations, including Birthright of Memphis, where he served as president of the board; First Tee Tennessee; the Tunnel to Towers Foundation; and Memphis City Schools, where he served as a mentor to children.
Charlie met the love of his life, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Moore, in 1965. Charlie and Peggy were married on December 27, 1972. They settled in Memphis where they raised their family, creating a life of love where Charlie consistently showed devotion and unending support to his wife and children. Charlie was an ultimate source of strength, honesty, and compassion to his sons, instilling in them the importance of faith and community. Charlie's foremost gifts were sharing his insight and support to his family through written notes, phone calls, and indelible moments on the golf course.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas Lyne Quinn. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years as well as his sons, Charles Bernerd Quinn, III (Camille); John Michael Quinn, Sr. (Mary Louis); and Robert Kelley Quinn (Kelly). His ultimate legacy are his seven grandchildren who cherished their "Pop:" Margaret Curran Quinn; Sallie Catherine Quinn; Mae Margaret Quinn; John Michael Quinn, Jr.; Charles Bernerd Quinn, IV; Campbell Martin Quinn; and Ellis Jack Quinn. He is also survived by his brothers Art Quinn (Susie), Danny Quinn (Denise), Marty Quinn (Melinda), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie's life will be celebrated with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m.
