Dr. Charles A. Neal, III's Obituary
Dr. Charles Albert Neal, III, 84, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 surrounded by both his family and church family. Dr. Neal graduated from Tech High School a year early in order to enlist in the Navy during WWII. He served in the Army 25th Division during the Korean War. His desire to become a dentist was born through his military training as a medic and dental technician, serving under oral surgeons. His hobbies included sail boating, studying theology, and reading his favorite authors Charles Haddon Spurgeon and John Bunyan. Dr. Neal was one of the founding board members of Evangelical Christian School. He attended The University of Memphis for his pre-dental course work, and was also a graduate of the University of Tennessee Dental School. Dr. Neal practiced dentistry for over 54 years, finally retiring when he was 80 years old. His first love was his Lord Jesus Christ. He was devoted to the precious love of his life, his wife of 62 years; his family, and church family. Dr. Neal is survived by his wife Emma Jean Neal, his son, Dr. David Russell Neal (Cissie), and his daughters, Julie Neal McDaniel (Paul), and Kathleen Neal Harris (Brad), and daughter-in-law, JoAnne Neal Clark, 14 grandchildren; Julie Harris Marino (John), Bradley Metcalf Harris, Jr., David Calvin Harris, Jessie Kathryn Harris, Anne Neal Ammons (Chris), Charles Albert Neal, V., Leah Neal Cunningham (Elliot), David Russell Neal, II (Whitney), John Raybon Neal, Allison Kelly Neal, Robert Paul McDaniel, Jr. (Katie), Leesa Kathleen Brandon (Christopher), Joseph Hamilton Neal McDaniel, and Mollye Elizabeth McDaniel; and five great granddaughters, Emmarie Kathryn Marino, Nealy Grace Marino, Emma Kathryn McDaniel, Caroline Gwen McDaniel, and Sydney Rae Brandon. Dr. Neal was preceded in death by his beloved son, Charles Albert Neal, IV., and his beloved grandson, Brian Taylor Neal. The visitation will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 10:00 to 12:00 at River Oaks Reformed Presbyterian Church at 1665 South Germantown Road, Germantown, TN 38138, (901)755-7772. The funeral service will follow at Noon at the church. Interment will be at Memphis Memory Gardens.
