Charles Edward Marcum's Obituary
Charles Edward Marcum, 84 of Independence, MS, formerly of Memphis, died in an auto accident Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Senatobia, MS.Ed was a World War II veteran with the Headquarters Company 2d Battalion 182d Infantry where he received an honorable discharge from the Army on December 11, 1945. He retired from Memorial Park Funeral Home after 17 years where he received several certificates and awards for his dedicated service. He was the youngest of 13 children born to Richard & Iva Marcum, of which he was the last survivor. Ed, known to many as Peepaw, will be greatly missed by his family and friends, where he was always eager to lend a helping hand.Ed is survived by his daughters, Julie Newcome of Independence, MS, and Linda Kerbough of Arlington, TN; grandchildren, Amy Peeples and Wayne Vannucci, both of Independence, MS and Nikki Kerbough Brister, of Arlington, TN; and seven great-grandchildren, Wade, Mark, Lane, Jessi and Jodi Peeples; and Tyler and Carly Vannucci, all of Independence, MS.He was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha Vannucci.A visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memphis Memory Gardens.
