Charles Dallas Kilpatrick's Obituary
Charles Dallas Kilpatrick, 87, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Germantown, Tennessee.
Born on July 9, 1937 to Lena and Charles Kilpatrick, CD grew up with a passion for sports and a deep commitment to his Lord, family and community. He graduated from Central High School in Memphis in 1955 as a standout athlete before continuing his education at Southwestern at Memphis. In 1959, he earned his degree from Memphis State University, and then proudly served as First Lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corp. After assignment in Okinawa, Japan, he returned to Memphis to his wife and baby daughter, adding two more girls, while building his long career in banking and brokerage.
CD was a dedicated athlete from an early age. He excelled in baseball, football, track, tennis, handball and golf. His enthusiasm for athletics never waned, and he remained an avid follower of his favorite teams, especially the Memphis Tigers. He held a deep faith, and served at Independent Presbyterian Church. Throughout his life, he remained a loyal friend to many. He loved America and was a true patriot. Most of all, CD was a devoted husband and father. His family will always remember their Big Daddy’s sincere smile and kind heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Powell Kilpatrick, daughters Laura Lamar (Mart), Elise Atkins (John), and Kara Preston (Tom), and his brother, Bobby. He was a shining example to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ana Triplett (Taylor), Lilly and Dot Triplett, Patrick Lampton (Sophie), Florie, Bo and Swayze Lampton, Louis Lampton (Neilley), Hart Lampton, Ainsley Atkins, Charles Colvin Atkins, Amelia Rose Atkins, Julia Preston and Thomas Preston.
A memorial service will be held on March 31, 2025, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, Tennessee 38119. The service will begin at 11:00 am.
