Charles William Holbrook, Sr.'s Obituary
Charles William “Bill” Holbrook, Sr., 78, passed away August 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. after a long battle with health problems.Bill was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, MS for over 50 years serving many years as a Deacon. He was an electrical contractor in the City of Memphis and was a member of the Lion’s Club International since 1968, having served as district governor, serving at both club and state levels. Bill also coached little league baseball for over 40 years. He served in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Whitehaven High School, and also a teacher of various electrical courses at State Tech.Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Christine Ware Holbrook, a brother, Carl Bodin, Four sons, Charles William Holbrook, Jr., Robert Earl Holbrook, Bruce Lynn Holbrook, Barry Wayne Holbrook, three daughters-in-law Sheryl Lynn Belote Holbrook, Debra Faye South Holbrook, Sheryl Marie Watkins Holbrook, 8 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel. A visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.The family requests that memorials be sent to the Mid South Lions Sight Service at 930 Madison Avenue Suite 101, Memphis, TN 38103.
