Charles H. Ford's Obituary
Charles H. Ford, 93, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2017. He was born August 2nd, 1924 to parents Charles Raymond and Grace Tomes Ford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Kathleen B. Ford. He is survived by his daughter Vicki Brown (John) of Lakeland, TN, daughter Becki McGehee (Tony) of Germantown, TN, grandson, Justin Brownlee (Melissa) of Germantown, TN, granddaughters Rebecca Neves (Doug) of Memphis, TN, Meagan Short (Cason) of Germantown, TN and Rachel Revelle (Stan) of Ashburn, VA and 10 great grandchildren, Will, Nate and Julia Brownlee, Evie and Jace Neves, Byers and Mac Short, and Stanley, Charlie and Annie Revelle. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering and worked for Proctor & Gamble and its subsidiary, Buckeye Cellulose for over 35 years. He loved music, played the trumpet in a band, sang in a barber shop quartet and was a member of the SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America). He loved to dance, especially with his wife and especially the jitter bug. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying with friends and family in his Cessna 182. And he loved working on his computer and was always up to date with the latest technology. He was the life of any party and will be missed by his many friends and family. Wonderful memories of his life will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., in the Narthex at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S. White Station Rd., Memphis, TN, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017. Memorial donations may be made to Birthright of Memphis or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family would like to thank his caretakers, Amanda Scales, Tamara Scales Jackson, Angela Walls, Nae Walls and Velda Griffin, for all the care, love and comfort that he received from them.
