Charles Richard Dalton's Obituary
Charles Richard Dalton, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born August 8, 1946 to parents (deceased) Donald Richard and Betty Jean Dalton in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Charles was a graduate and an accomplished athlete in track and field, football, and wrestling from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1964. His uncle (deceased) Bob Betts, would nickname him “Pete” after his grandfather’s brother, although, Charles would claim the name came from the family dog. Ironically this name would last Charles “Pete” Dalton and his family the remainder of his life. His early career would land him employed for the Union Pacific Railroad and Wells Fargo. Eventually Charles would find greater career heights with Skaggs Drug Store. He became District Manager for the company and would move to Memphis, Tennessee in the 70’s to manage one of the stores. Memphis is the city that “Pete” would forever call home. Other careers while in Memphis include employment for Big Daddy’s Amusement, NSA, Culligan Water, and finally managing and owning his own business, Dalton Water Treatment. Dalton Water Treatment would become the career of his life that he always loved. Charles loved life and people. It is no surprise that his customers would become his best friends. He created more than just business relationships, but rather genuine friendships that would last forever. Charles loved visiting with his customers and treated everyone he met with gentleness and kindness. He was honest, hardworking, faithful, kind, and a loving soul to all. He was especially dear to his family and loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. Charles “Pete” Dalton is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pamela Dalton; his sons, Troy, Gary, and Paul Dalton; his daughters, Tina Brigman and April Dalton; his 9 grandchildren, Alli, Karlee, Prestin, McKenna, Brandi, Julie, Jacob, Emily, Matthew, and number 10 coming soon, Brandon. Charles will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and church. Charles Dalton, you are loved by all. Through Christ Jesus, we can truly say, “It’s not good-bye, but see you later.”Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “A Fitting Farewell for Everyone”.
