Charles P. Bonicelli's Obituary
Charles Peter Bonicelli, 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Bartlett, TN on April 26, 2025.
Charles was born on Jan. 18, 1932 in Memphis, TN, to Peter and Mary (Poggio) Bonicelli. He was a graduate of Germantown High School, class of 1950. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Josephine Bonicelli, née Vaccari, in 2004 after 52 years of marriage. He is survived by his four children, Michael Bonicelli of Bartlett, TN, Joseph (Janice) Bonicelli of Pinson, TN, Della (Bill) Thompson of Eureka, MO, and Mary (Daniel) Lovett of Whispering Pines, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Mitchell Bonicelli, Rachel Thompson, Sarah Lovett and Peter Lovett as well as one great-grandchild, Lila Bonicelli.
Charles was a lifelong communicant of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, TN, where he and his wife moved in 1955. They farmed over 500 acres along Stage Road until the late 70’s. In 1972, Charles started working for the Bartlett Water Department and retired as Superintendent of that department in 1999. In retirement, he was an avid member of the Dixie Iron Tractor Pulling Club and participated in many competitions with much success.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, May 4 from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 5 at St. Ann Catholic Church at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
