Charles E. Baucum's Obituary
Charles Edwin Baucum, 87, passed away Monday, June 20. Mr. Baucum was born in Mayfield, Kentucky, graduated from Memphis State University, and received his law degree from Southern College of Law. Mr. Baucum practiced law for 37 years, retiring from the Shelby County Public Defender’s office in 1993. Mr. Baucum was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he had served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Administrative Board. Mr. Baucum is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie W. Baucum, his son Steve Baucum (Carol), two grandchildren, Wesley Baucum and Stephanie Baucum, his sister-in-law, Marjorie A. Baucum of Forrest City, AR, and two nephews, Robert J. Baucum of Forrest City, AR, and William A. Baucum of Memphis, TN. The family will receive friends and family from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 21 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, Madonna Learning Center, or the charity of donor’s choice.
