Charlane Lane's Obituary
Charlane Lane, 81, of Memphis died Sun. evening Oct. 2 at Baptist Hospital Memphis. Graveside services are Fri. Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville Ala. She was the widow of Allen E. Lane and is survived by daughters Sherry Puckett Greene (Rodney), and Mary Kate Puckett Garner (Stokes), both of Memphis, and countless friends. Mrs. Lane was born in Paducah, Ky. and spent her childhood in nearby in Metropolis, Ill. She attended Monticello School for Girls and the University of Ky. In 1959 she moved to Huntsville where she raised her daughters. She later retired with Al to Decatur and Rogersville Ala. where they kept a second home. After Al’s death she moved to Memphis where she has lived for 20 years. She was a past member of Variety Club Children’s Charities and enjoyed playing bridge but blackjack was her passion. She was a great cook and hostess, always finding extra room at her table for unexpected guests. The family requests memorials can be made in her honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
