Celeste Reese's Obituary
Celeste Hooks Reese was born in Lexsy, GA, on December 26, 1923. She died at Belmont Village in Memphis, TN, on March 23, 2018. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia, and a Registered Dietitian and 50-year member of the Tennessee Dietetics Association. She is survived by her daughters, Janice Reese of Frankfort, KY; Karen Rhorer (Reed) of Frankfort, KY; and Jeanine Everton (Glenn) of Memphis, TN; by five grandchildren, Jennifer Hancock (Miller), Kendall McCray (O’Ryan), Halden Rhorer, Julia Rhorer, and Emma Rhorer; and by 3 and 8/9’s great-grandchildren, Cash Hancock, Reese Hancock, Eloise McCray, and (soon) Oliver McCray. She is also survived by her sisters, Marcile Bird of Statesboro, GA, and Betty Underwood of Jasper, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vendie and Fleetie Hooks; by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Halden Eugene Reese; and by her brothers, V. H. Hooks, Jr. of Metter, GA; Gerald Hooks of Swainsboro, GA; and Donald Hooks of Swainsboro, GA. Mrs. Reese was a long-time of member of First Baptist Church of Memphis, TN. A memorial celebration of her life will be held in Caudill Chapel at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will follow in the Welcome Center. A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery before the service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, 200 E.
