Celeste C. Hamric's Obituary
Celeste Christie Hamric, 83, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends at her home in Moscow. Celeste was born on March 14, 1932 in Capleville, Tennessee to William Lane and Erma Henry Christie. She graduated with the class of 1950 from M.C. Williams High School (Germantown High School), and married her high school sweetheart, Eddie Hamric, in the summer of 1951. Celeste and Eddie made their home in Germantown, TN and raised their two sons before moving to Moscow in 2002. She enjoyed countless trips with her husband to Heber Springs, AR. Celeste always cherished the unspoiled beauty and abundance of wildlife found in nature. She retired after 20 years with Shelby County Schools, working alongside developmentally disabled children at Germantown Middle School. Celeste enjoyed sewing and spent hours tending her flower, fruit, and vegetable gardens. She was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow. Celeste was preceded in death by both parents; her sister, Alma Rebecca Christie; and her brother, William Thomas Christie. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Eddie; her sons, Michael Hamric (Candy) of Moscow and William David Hamric (Louise) of Moscow; her grandchildren, Micah Wark (Chris), Christie Phillips (Will), and Adam Hamric; five great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Erline Wilson and Irmalane McDaniel; She will be best remembered for her determination, panache, and zest for life. Our Mama Les will be so deeply missed. The family would like to thank the many dedicated team members from Crossroads Hospice for the outstanding, compassionate care they provided to Celeste. Her signature kindness, graciousness, and indulgence to her cat, Miss Kitty, won’t be forgotten. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 18 at 11 a.m. until service begins at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, TN or The Gideons International.
