Cecil White's Obituary
Cecil White, 63, professional golfer and dedicated student of the game, passed away August 7, 2012. Mr. White played golf for Overton High School and University of Tennessee at Martin. He formally worked for Galloway Golf Course and retired as Facility Director from Audubon Golf Course in 2008. God blessed Cecil with the ability to hit a ball out of sight. But when he takes his swing, sometimes other, less kindly forces take over. “My major problem,” he once said “is that I don’t know which way it’s (the ball) going to go.” As a young man, Cecil decided that he could not afford both women and golf. He chose to marry golf. Mr. White is survived by his mother, Virginia Chaille White; sisters, Cheryl White Schwend (Gary) and Tamara “Tammy” White; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Cecil White, Sr. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 10 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
