Catherine White's Obituary
Catherine Patilla Crihfield White, 91, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Born March 4, 1921 at home in the Edith community of Lauderdale County, she was the daughter of the late David Fowler Crihfield and Susan Adaline Treadwell Dennison Crihfield. Mrs. White had 10 half brothers and sisters that preceded her in death. After graduation from Ripley High School, Mrs. White moved to Memphis where she was employed at White’s Eats Shop on Cleveland where she made a great cup of coffee and met the love of her life, James Edwin White. They were married on November 26, 1941 and enjoyed 52 happy years together raising 3 children. Mrs. White was a dedicated employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 37 years serving in production as well as shift supervision during World War II and again during the later years of her career . As a member of Cherokee Baptist Church for over 50 years, she served the Lord faithfully as a 1st grade Sunday School teacher, VBS volunteer and nursery worker. She leaves her children, Edwin Fowler White of Lakeland, FL and his children Patty Blotzer, and Beth Howard (Jimmy); Jamae White Zarshenas (Dariush) of Bartlett, TN and her children Hannah, John and Andrew; and Sara White Collie (David) of Collierville, TN and her children David, Jr. (Jenna), Amy and Michael. She also had two step-sons, James W. White (Nadine) of Memphis and Samuel L. White of Maryville, TN. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Cherokee Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Cherokee Baptist Church, Brinkley Heights Ministries, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
