Catherine Edicott Swearingen's Obituary
Catherine “Cathy” Endicott Swearingen, 47, died September 26, 2009 at Methodist University Hospital following a brief illness.Her quiet compassion and gentle wisdom was a source of strength not only to her family but to all the children whose lives she touched daily as a childcare staff member at Central Church in Collierville. Cathy had the gift of hospitality and made everyone around her feel “at home.” She had a servant’s heart and was very supportive of everything her children attempted.Mrs. Swearingen is survived by her husband, Carl N. Swearingen, two sons, Stephen David and Ryan William, and a daughter, Carly Lynn, all of Collierville; her parents William and Barbara Endicott of Memphis, a sister Sheri Lynn Phipps (Jeff) of Collierville, a brother W. Alan Endicott (Gerri) of Oakland, TN, a grandmother Margaret Endicott Fry of Memphis, and numerous nieces and nephews all greatly loved. She is also survived by two brothers-in law, Roy Swearingen of Memphis and Jim Swearingen (Marcia) of Hixson, TN, two sisters-in-law Laura Swearingen of Memphis and Elizabeth Talbot (William) of Houston, TX.Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 28 from 5-8 pm. The funeral service will be at Central Church in Collierville on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 1:30 pm with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund being established for the children’s education. For information contact the Central Church office.
