Catherine Jones Prewett's Obituary
Catherine Jones Prewett, 101, of Memphis, died October 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Dr. Thurman Prewett and son James Prewett. She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Ken) Bell of Houston, TX, two grandsons, Sean (Cheryl) Prewett of Hernando, MS, Paul (Beeta) Little of Houston, TX, one great granddaughter Jasmine Little, Houston, TX, and her daughter in law Pirjo Prewett.
She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She served on the Bellevue staff as the Director of Children's Education for over 18 years. She served as Chairperson of the Metro Preschool/Children's Directors of the Southern Baptist Convention. She was the president of the Shelby Baptist Ministers' Wives Fellowship and the Tennessee Baptist Ministers' Wives Fellowship. She was a teacher and conference leader for Children's Leadership in many states, associations and churches.
She was an excellent storyteller, an amateur poet and an avid reader.
After retiring she and her husband were able to enjoy their travels throughout the world.
After moving to Kirby Pines, she served on the Advisory Committee and was the director of the Drama Club (Ham-ateur Club) for years. She served as the leader of Vespers services and visited the Medical Units weekly.
Her life reflects her deep Christian faith and her devotion and love for family and friends.
Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., October 11, 2025, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The memorial service at Kirby Pines Estates Chapel will be held at 1:00 p.m., October 13, 2025.
