Catherine J. Lequerica's Obituary
Catherine J. Lequerica, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2108 at Belmont Village in Memphis, TN, where she had been an Alzheimer patient since 2013. She was the loving wife of Frank Lequeric a, with whom she shared a wonderful 66 years of marriage.Catherine was born in Troy, NY on March 23, 1927 to Lulu Etta (Morris) and Hugh Edward Jaques. She grew up in Troy, New York and graduated from Troy Catholic High School in 1945. She met the love of her life Frank while he was a foreign student at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. They were married in Sacred Heart Church in Troy NY on August 23, 1947. Shortly after her marriage, the newlyweds moved to Cuba where their three children were born. In 1960, Catherine and Frank came as refugees to the US and made Pensacola, Florida their home for 5 years. The family moved on to Spain and Puerto Rico, where Catherine continued in her role as mother and homemaker. Retirement brought them back to Florida, where they made their home in Navarre for the next 23 years. After Frank passed in 2013, Catherine made Memphis her home to be near her son Frank.Catherine is survived by her three children: Carmen Najork and her husband Karl of Newburgh, NY; Frank Lequerica and his wife LaDelle of Memphis, TN and Kati Orenstein and her husband Ross of Pensacola, Fla. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Sara Kendall (Barbany) of NY, NY; Karl Najork (Deanna) of Waldwick, NJ; Frank Lequerica (Emily) of Memphis, TN; Joe Lequerica (Laleh) of NY, NY; Spencer Orenstein of Washington, DC and Eli Orenstein of Nashville, TN and 5 great grandchildren: Margaret and Peter Kendall, Marcus Najork, Thomas Lequerica and May Lequerica.She was predeceased by her two sisters Lulu Jaques Lansing and Sister Bernarda (Margaret) Jaques, CSJ.Family was always the top priority for Catherine. She and Frank spent many hours watching their grandchildren play in the bay in front of their house in Navarre. She loved playing cards, laughing, and being anything but ordinary.There will be no visitation. Cremation will be private.
