Catherine "Cathy" D. Fry's Obituary
Catherine (Cathy) Dwyer Fry passed from this life into God’s hands on October 19, 2014 while surrounded by her family and loved ones. Cathy was born in Memphis on October 10, 1935. She graduated from Bonifay High School in Bonifay, Florida in 1953. She married William N. Fry III on September 22, 1955 and spent the next 59 years as his faithful partner in life. Cathy worked for 25 years at Goldsmith’s (now Macy’s) Department Store on Poplar Avenue. Cathy always greeted everyone with a smile and collected friends every place she went; be it Goldsmith’s, the High Point Grocery, Fred’s Pharmacy or more recently, the West Clinic and Baptist East. She found and appreciated the beauty of all things in life including her garden and her pets. Cathy gave everything to all while expecting nothing in return. No one appreciated other’s success or shared other’s pain more than Cathy. Cathy was a 56- year member of the Church of The Good Shepherd, Episcopal, on Jackson Avenue in Memphis where her husband is the Rector. She enthusiastically performed every task that needed to be done with faith in her heart. Cathy is survived by her husband, William N. Fry III of Memphis, her son William N. Fry IV and daughter- in- law Lee Anne Fry of New York City, grandhildren William Lee Fry and Katherine Louise Fry; daughter Mary Angela Taylor of Brookhaven, Mississippi and grandson Wesley Mathew Taylor of Oxford, Mississippi, and son Christopher Edward Fry of Carmel, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; E. H. (Chick) and Emolyn Dwyer of Bonifay, Florida and granddaughter Sarah Taylor of Brookhaven, Mississippi. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21 from 6 PM until 7:30 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar. The service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, October 22 at the Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel with interment following the service.
