Carolyn R. Russell's Obituary
Carolyn R. Russell, 82, passed away January 30, 2019. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George M. (Smoky) Russell, three daughters, Sharon Jones (Wise), Sally Halle (Phil), Sophia Bollinger (Rick). Carolyn was the daughter of Luther John and Jessie Robison.Early in life, Carolyn was an active and contributing member of Les Passees. For many years she enjoyed her membership with the Friends of the Needy Circle of King Daughters and her membership with the Oak Grove Garden Club. Carolyn always enjoyed and appreciated the life time friendships created with these organizations.Carolyn’s real passion for service came with her 20 years, or so, of her dedicated work and service as a Clothes Closet Manager for Second Presbyterian Church providing needed clothing for Pastors, Missionaries, and their families. It gave her great joy.Those who knew and loved Carolyn through the years have used the following phrases to describe who she was, “Quick wit and fun to know, beautiful and gracious both inside and out who had the wonderful ability to make every one feel comfortable and at ease, a lovely Southern Lady, Gorgeous smile, Christ like caring, love for her family, indeed a lady.” Carolyn personified the definition of “Shop till you Drop”. She was at her best when shopping!Carolyn had a great love for her Grandchildren: Rich Bollinger, Russell (Petey) Thomas, Page Baran, Sophie Cunningham, Lindsey Price, Brooke Halle, Blair Connor, Audrey Jones, as well, as her Great Grandchildren: Julia Price, Charlotte Thomas, Mathis Price, Wise Thomas, Guy Baran. OH! She loved them all so much.Bottom line, Carolyn knew our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, trusted Him with faith. She is now in His care rejoicing in the joy of salvation. The family will receive friends at Second Presbyterian Church on Monday, February 4th from 1:00-2:00pm with the service to follow immediately in the Sanctuary at 2:00pm.Memorials may be sent to the Second Presbyterian Church Foundation. Flowers may be sent to Second Presbyterian Church.
