Carolyn Ann Morse's Obituary
Carolyn Ann Morse, 82 died early Saturday evening, June 12 at Collierville Nursing and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness. Carolyn was born October 24, 1938 in Memphis, TN, the oldest of three children born to Taylor Dumont Morse, II and Louise Davis Morse. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Taylor D. Morse, III and his wife Mary Styers Morse. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her brother, Steven Davis Morse and her longtime friend and housemate, Mary Ballard. Carolyn was educated in the public schools of Memphis, and Union University in Jackson, TN. After graduating from Union, Carolyn went to Washington, D.C. where she began working at FBI Headquarters in August 1960. One of the first people she met in Washington was Mary Ballard, who became her close friend, and in 1962 her housemate. Carolyn and Mary loved to travel and have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Western Europe and the Caribbean. They also loved the theater and opera and small dinner parties with friends. Following retirement, they moved to Memphis in April 1996. Both are members of Kings Daughters and Sons and the Society of FBI Alumni. Carolyn was a voracious reader and she loved her feline companions.
Steve and Mary are deeply grateful to Dr. Nidal Rahal for his care over many years and to the representatives of Avalon Hospice and Collierville Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care they provided to Carolyn during her final days.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 17 from 10:30 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. A private burial will immediately follow.
