Carolyn Hurst Jackson's Obituary
Carolyn Hurst Jackson passed away the evening of February 22, 2026, after a brief illness. She is missed by her beloved children Julie Jackson and David Jackson, daughter-in-law, Angie Sturgis, nephews and nieces. We are eternally grateful to our dear friend Ms. April Poole for her service as Carolyn's caregiver during the final years. Carolyn is preceded in death by her father Leo Jack Hurst, mother Martha Mai McClain Hurst, and brothers Joel, Thomas, and Jackie Hurst.
Ms. Jackson was a lifelong resident of Memphis Tennessee. She was one of the first employees of M. S. Carriers. M. S. Carriers is well known for being a start-up firm in Memphis for commercial transportation. Carolyn carried badge #3 for over 10,000 employees. Carolyn also served as International Tariffs and Rates Director, and this position allowed her to travel in the US, Canada, and Mexico for M. S. Carriers. After a long career in trucking and transportation, Carolyn vacationed abroad with friends before retiring to a quiet life in mid-town Memphis where she resided until her death.
In lieu of flowers, donations to an animal sanctuary or rescue organization are also appreciated.
