Carolyn Anne Gibson's Obituary
Carolyn Ann Gibson, 77, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 at her home in Conway, Arkansas, surrounded by those who loved her most.
Carolyn lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She shared 40 wonderful years with her beloved spouse, Joan Vandiveer, building a life together filled with laughter, partnership, and enduring devotion.
Carolyn was know for her quick wit and great sense of humor—qualities that brought joy and levity to those around her. Whether offering a clever remark or lifting spirits with a well-timed joke, she had a gift for making others smile. Her warmth, intelligence, and kindness made her a treasured presence in the lives of many.
A lifelong learner, Carolyn graduated from The University of Tennessee in Memphis with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cytotechnology. Her career was spent in the field of pathology. Her dedication to knowledge and her work reflected a deep commitment to improving the lives of others.
Outside her professional life, Carolyn embraced every opportunity to share joy. She loved to cook and entertain in her home, where guests were always greeted with warmth and delicious meals. She found peace on the water—boating and fishing were among her favorite pastimes. As master gardener, she cultivated beauty wherever she lived, and her home was never without the companionship of animals. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Cooper, and her cat, Sam.
Carolyn is survived by her spouse, Joan Vandiveer , brother Timothy Guffey (Little Rock), sister Ginann Swindle (Sherwood) sister in-law Lee Steele, several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Ollie “Gus” Guffey, Mother Ann Welch Gibson, her stepfather Joe Gibson and her brother Roger Gibson and brother-in-law Dr. Victor Puleo Jr.
Carolyn attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Conway Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on August 20, 2025 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, Tennessee.
