Carolyn C Branton's Obituary
Carolyn C. Branton, age 95 of Memphis went to be with her valentine on February 14.
She grew up in Belzoni Mississippi where she was a founding member of the Delta Darlings. She attended Belhaven college and graduated from the university of Alabama where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. She completed graduate work in Indianapolis. She worked for the state of Mississippi child welfare in Greenville Mississippi where she met the love of her life John “Buddy” Branton. They were married in Jackson Mississippi. They lived in Columbia South Carolina while he was stationed overseas. They moved to Greenville Mississippi before settling in Memphis.
She was an active member of Second Presbyterian where she volunteered in the church nursery and library and taught Sunday school. She was also involved with Community Bible Study.
She had been a Girl Scout leader where she took her troop hiking and canoeing . She also served on the Council board .
She leaves behind her 2 daughters, Kathy McGrath , Denis, of Calgary Alberta Canada and Susan Batchelor, Don, of Memphis, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral service to be held at Memorial Park Funeral home at Wednesday March 3rd at 1:00pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Second Presbyterian church
