Carole Coolican's Obituary
Carole Kanin Coolican passed away at home on September 26, 2018 after a long illness and cared for by her loving husband, Mike.Carole was born on April 12, 1942 in Memphis, TN to her parents Mary and David Kanin. She grew up in Memphis attending Training School on the University of Memphis campus and then on to Messick High School. During her late teens, she met and married the love of her life, Mike Coolican and they shared their lives together for 59 years. Together they raised four boys. She was active in their scouting life and loved camping with them and spending as much time at the beach as possible. Carole was an avid gardener and loved spending time outdoors raising her flowers and vegetables. It was once said that her backyard could have been in Southern Living magazine. Next to the love of her family was the love for her dogs.In 2007 Carole retired after 34 years of dedicated service to St. Jude Research hospital where she worked in the Medical Records Department. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and staying in touch with all her friends, many of whom she lunched with once a month. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church of Assisi where she was a long-time member of the choir.Carole is survived by her husband, Michael J. Coolican III, four Sons Mark Coolican (Penny), Mike Coolican IV, Kirk Coolican, and Keith Coolican, nine grandchildren, Matt, Mallory, Mitch & Mason Coolican, Heather McClintock (Ryan), Kelsey Matande (Mike), Kaitlin & Kanin Coolican, and Bridget Coolican, two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Hudson McClintock. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Whiteside Kanin.Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Cordova TN, located at 8151 Chimney Rock Blvd on Tuesday, October 2, 2018; Visitation at 9:30 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception at the church.
