Carlin Denton Stuart's Obituary
Carlin Denton Stuart, 89, passed away on November 19, 2014, at his home. Mr. Stuart was born May 23, 1925 to Carlin O. Stuart and Annie Mae Denton Stuart in Memphis, TN. He attended public schools in Memphis and graduated from Tech High School. Being active in Boy Scouts, he went on to become an Eagle Scout. During WW II he served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot. He attended Southwestern (now Rhodes) and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.Mr. Stuart was the owner of Carlin Stuart Co., Realtors and Home Owner Real Estate Services. He was active in numerous civic organizations: served as president of Sales and Marketing Executives of Memphis, was a member of the Tennessee Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, Sales and Marketing Executives International. Mr. Stuart was president of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors in 1973 and taught evening Real Estate courses at the joint university center (for U.T. and at Memphis State University.) As a long time member of Second Presbyterian Church, he served as a Deacon, Elder, Elder Emeritus, and attended the Chapel Sunday School Class.He is preceded in death by his wife of over 49 years, Jamye Ormon Stuart, and a brother, William Donald (Don) Stuart. He is survived by his son, Carlin O. Stuart, his wife Renee, and granddaughter, Ginger Grace Stuart of Germantown, TN. Also surviving him are his brother, Herbert Stuart (Peggy) of Nashville, TN; sisters, Mary Ann Sherman (Odom) of Dallas, TX and Esther Stuart Scott of Collierville, TN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, November 24, both at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church Foundation or the church library (4055 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38111), or charity of donor’s choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
