Carlene W. Conrad's Obituary
Carlene W. Conrad, 87, of Eads, TN, went home to be with Jesus on April 13, 2022.
Carlene was born on April 24, 1934 in Bethel Springs, TN to Carl and Vernie Wilson, and was raised on a farm in McNairy County.
She loved to tell stories about milking cows and picking cotton with her 4 siblings, and cooking with her mother. She graduated from Memphis State University and became an elementary school teacher. One of her first assignments was teaching the children of military families on the Army base at Ft. Benning, Georgia where she met her future husband, Cecil Conrad, at a church service. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1960, and moved to Memphis. Carlene taught at the Memphis Hebrew Academy for a few years before beginning a family and devoting herself to caring for her family full time. Later, she was an elementary school teacher at Briarcrest Christian School for 25 years until she retired. She loved to sew in her spare time and taught her 4 granddaughters how to sew, knit, and crochet.
Carlene was a lifelong Christian. For the last 30 years of her life, she was an active member of Eads Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil B. Conrad, her sisters, Christine Sparks and Mary Nell Rinks, brother Paul Wilson, son, Bob Conrad (Mary Jane), daughter, Becky Smith (Keith), 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. all in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
