Carl G. H. Wallin
Memphis- Carl G. H. Wallin passed away on October 4, 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee at Methodist Germantown Hospital. Carl was born in Sweden, and raised by his loving parents, Herald Valentin Ferdinand Wallin and Kerstin Elizabeth Rabo Wallin.
He spent his early career as an entrepreneur, traveling in Europe, Africa, and Asia. In the early eighties, Carl relocated to America to fulfill his dream of becoming an airline pilot. After meeting the love of his life, Jennie, he and Jennie married and resided in Sweden for a time. They returned to Memphis and Carl enjoyed a culinary career for many years. As true soul mates, Carl and Jennie were deeply devoted to one another, enjoying traveling, a passion for animal welfare and rescue efforts, and spending each day loving and supporting one another. Carl returned home annually to visit friends and family, as well to snow ski with his childhood friends. Carl was an avid skier, his second love of his life.
Jennie predeceased Carl in April 2021. Carl is survived by his niece, Therese Wallin and nephew Palle Osterling, both who reside in Sweden, as well as his best friend since childhood, Hans Andre. In addition to his Swedish family and close friends, he leaves his sister-in-law, Joan Leary Peck, and nephew James Edward Peck of Lago Vista, TX, and many special friends in Memphis and Sweden, who now mourn his passing. His family and friends are thankful that he is reunited with his beloved Jennie.
A memorial service and burial will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis TN 38119 on Thursday November 16 at 2:00 PM. Immediately following the burial the family will receive friends in the Parkside Event Center at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
