Callie Jordan Gathings' Obituary
Callie Jordan Gathings, 80, of Memphis, passed away at St. Francis Hospital-Park, Friday, May 15, 2009.A retired teacher of the Memphis City Schools, she resided in Blytheville, AR until the end of 2008.She was preceded in death by her husband the Dr., Rev. Samuel A. Gathings; her parents, Berry Jordan, Sr. and Callie Tabb Jordan; Stepmother, Melisia Jordan, a brother, Andrew C. Jordan, other siblings, Charlene Dortch, Pearlean Hollins, and J.W. Neal. Survivors included three brothers, Odell, Berry, Jr., Roosevelt Jordan of Vicksburg, MS, two sisters, Cora (Thomas) McClatcher of Memphis, TN, and Willie Mae (Welsey) Brown of Vicksburg, MS. She also leaves a host of cousins (including the Tabb Family of Michigan, California, New York, Nevada), nephews, nieces, and other family and friends.Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Golden United Methodist Church, 4028 Neely Rd. Services for Callie Jordan Gathings will be Saturday, May 23, at 12:00 p.m. at Golden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
